Landscape Lighting Fixtures
We have a variety of products to choose from. There are three or four metals that work in Florida. First of all, we do carry aluminum; however these fixtures do not last as they are powder coated so when the surface is scratched at all, then the integrity of the fixture is compromised within 2 years. The manufacturer is one of the best but with painted aluminum the weather is a major factor.
We have several brass fixtures. The first is a thinner metal product. It is thin because the manufacturer does a lot of stamping of design into the hats on path lights, necessitating a thinner metal to work with. This fixture has a prorated 25 year warranty.
We have a milled brass fixture. This fixture is second to none in terms of quality. This is a mid price range product line. The fixture is heavy duty, and has a full 25 year warranty
We have a bronze fixture that is second to none in quality. This product line is a medium high end line and heavy duty. The product line is great for the coastal areas where corrosion is a key factor. The products can be allowed to turn a dark green or can be maintained with the brass coloring. The warranty is a full 25 years.
Finally, we carry a solid brass fixture, very heavy duty, absolutely second to none in terms of both quality and durability. The manufacturer has been around for a long time and is very well known through out the industry as the leader in landscape lighting fixtures.
Transformers
We use only stainless steel, 10 and twenty year transformers. The cores have been wrapped in a silicone to prevent corrosion here in Florida. The products are very good quality and have capacities ranging from 300 watts to 1500 watts. The transformers all are multi-tapped, which enable us to design a system that has the exact voltage requirements at every location on your property. This is an important piece as the bulbs are halogen gas bulbs. They require heat to light the bulb. Voltage provides the heat. If the voltage is too high or low, then the bulbs will burn at a faster rate. Too high on the voltage very well could destroy the fixture on top of everything else. So the proper amount of voltage is an absolute must. They all have multiple commons, which allow us to spread the amp loads out across the transformer and keep the system running as cool as possible. "Cool translates to the system lasting longer".
Wire
On all home runs, we use nothing but high quality 10/2 gage wire, all UL approved, underground burial wire. The wire is guaranteed for the life of the system.
Connections
All connections are soldered at the hubs, placed in long grease tubes, and then placed in a hub. In this way, we can certify that the connections will stay as dry as possible considering the application. Soldering means that the wiring cannot pull apart, as well as maintain a very good connection, conductivity wise. The tubes keep the connection that way. In Florida, that means everything. If a contractor is using wire nuts or clamp type connections, the integrity of the system will be compromised as the life span is shortened considerably.
Landscape Lighting Bulbs
We use only 10,000 hour bulbs. When the system is designed correctly, with the proper voltage being maintained at each fixture, then the system will run a very long time.
